Arsenal hold new round of talks for Chelsea signing

Fabrizio Romano reports on his YouTube channel that in recent hours there have been new conversations between Arsenal and Noni Madueke's camp.

Romano adds that he believes Madueke could be open to the transfer, given this second round of talks. If the winger had no interest in the move, presumably his camp would have shut things down immediately.

The journalist clarifies that this doesn't mean Madueke wants to or will leave Chelsea, but just that he's open to the possibility.

As it stands, Romano reports that Arsenal haven't made any official bid or held any concrete negotiations with Chelsea.

But previous reports including one from The Athletic have suggested that the Blues don't consider Madueke untouchable this summer.

It's evidently a deal that could happen for the right price. Whether the two clubs can reach a compromise on that price remains to be seen.

23-year-old Madueke has scored 11 goals and assisted five in 2024/25 so far, with his season still ongoing due to Chelsea's run in the Club World Cup.

Largely a right-winger, Madueke has also operated on the left on a number of occasions this season, including both of his Club World Cup starts last month and four of his final five Premier League games of the last campaign.

That versatility could appeal to Arsenal, providing cover on both flanks. But it's unclear at this stage whether the Gunners plan to push ahead with a move, or whether they're just continuing to keep options open.

Arsenal and Chelsea have already done some business so far this summer, with Kepa Arrizabalaga arriving in a £5m deal.
