SL Benfica v FC Bayern München: Group C - FIFA Club World Cup 2025
Veteran Bayern Munich forward Thomas Muller dismissed complaints on excessive heat at the Club World Cup as he cited himself as an example, while stressing that professional footballers must adapt to all conditions. The German forward also dropped a hint on a possible move to the Major League Soccer once his Bayern Munich contract expires this summer.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Several players have complained about the excessive heat in the USA while competing in the Club World Cup. Still, veteran Bayern forward Muller claimed that professional footballers cannot cite weather as an excuse for their poor performances. The Bavarian side finished the group stage in the second position after losing their final group game 1-0 against Benfica.
WHAT THOMAS MULLER SAID
Speaking to reporters, Muller said: "We are professionals and we have to be in shape. If an almost 36-year-old, you know, a guy like me, can run 90 minutes, then everybody should do it. So, no excuses."

THE BIGGER PICTURE
The former Germany international has been linked with a move to the MLS once his Bayern contract expires this summer and the 35-year-old hinted that a move to the US is indeed on the cards. He added: "Yeah, there is a chance (of joining an NLS side), but I have to figure it out and at the moment I am totally focused on playing this tournament. Some talks maybe in the background, but the focus is on the tournament now. I have no hurry, I have no stress to take my decisions, and then we will see, but I don't know now."
