Andre Onana is poised to remain as Manchester United's first-choice goalkeeper next season. Despite the Reds' boss Ruben Amorim desiring a new No. 1, seeking a replacement for Onana isn't high on the agenda as United focus on revamping a squad that ended up in 15th place last season.

United had anticipated bids for Onana from the Saudi Pro League and were aiming to recover approximately £35million of the £47.2million they shelled out to Inter Milan for the Cameroon international last summer. This would have given them the financial means to chase targets such as Aston Villa's Emi Martinez - who is now being pursued by ambitious Galatasaray - and Royal Antwerp's emerging 22 year old star Senne Lammens.

However, the prevailing sentiment at Old Trafford is that Onana will still be between the sticks when the new season commences.

United also plan to keep Turkish international Altay Bayindir and Tom Heaton as reserves, with the 39-year-old former England goalkeeper likely to be offered a one-year contract extension.

Both Onana and Bayindir faced criticism for their performances last season.

But Amorim believes that any available funds must be allocated towards enhancing the rest of United's team before considering the signing of a top-tier goalkeeper.
