Chelsea make decision on signing second striker after £30m Liam Delap transfer

Chelsea are set to delve into the transfer market for another striker, despite already securing a deal worth £30million to sign Liam Delap. The UEFA Conference League champions continue to keep an eye on the centre-forward market, although their top priority has now shifted towards acquiring a left-winger.

In the coming week, the Blues are expected to engage in discussions with Karl Mwalako Buchmann, the agent of Eintracht Frankfurt's centre-forward Hugo Ekitike, according to the Mirror. Chelsea have also shown long-standing interest in Arsenal target Benjamin Sesko and have been monitoring Sporting CP's Viktor Gyokeres.

Nicolas Jackson remains a key part of Enzo Maresca's plans, however, the Senegal international now faces competition to retain his position as the club's first-choice No. 9.

Several European clubs have made preliminary enquiries about Jackson's availability in recent months, but he is currently expected to stay put after signing a new two-year contract last September.

Maresca has previously expressed his belief that Jackson possesses the skills to play from the left if necessary.

Brighton's Joao Pedro is not currently considered a serious contender, despite rumours linking him with a move to Stamford Bridge.
