Manchester United are reportedly closing in on the £62.5million signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolves, triggering his release clause, with their financial plan to finalise the deal now clear. The Red Devils are set to overhaul Ruben Amorim's squad following a dismal campaign, ending trophyless and in 15th place in the Premier League table.
With Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho expected to headline the outgoings, the club are on the verge of bringing in Cunha after the Brazil international's stellar season at Wolves. He has scored 15 goals in 33 league games this year and led the club away from the relegation zone.
The BBC claim that talks are at an advanced stage, with United required to pay Cunha's full £62.5m release clause in three instalments over a two-year period.
United and Cunha are close to a total agreement over personal terms, with insiders claiming that the move is now considered a formality by all those involved.
Wolves are yet to receive a formal approach but due to Cunha having a release clause, it has not been necessary for United to notify their rivals until they are officially triggering the clause.

As per the terms of Cunha's release clause, United will have to pay the full fee by the end of the 2026/27 campaign. The first £20.8m will be sent upon the initial triggering, with the second to take place at the end of next season. The final payment will be sent in the summer of 2027.
The terms are thought to be favourable for United, compared to release clauses often issued, particularly by clubs outside of England. Often, selling clubs require the fee to be paid entirely up front.
Doing so for Cunha would significantly hamper their plans to recruit further this summer due to the league's Profit & Sustainability rules, as another forward is expected to join Cunha in arriving at Old Trafford.

Both Ipswich's Liam Delap and Brentford winger Bryan Mbeumo are reported targets, with United recently holding talks with the latter.
Cunha's team-mates have already said their goodbyes, with the forward sharing these on social media. Joao Gomes wrote a letter and left it in the Wolves changing room, which read: "Thank you for all the moments. You will forever be in my heart. I will fight forever for you and your family. I love you."
Midfielder Andre also wrote: "I'm sure you will shine wherever you go, my friend. May God bless you and your family wherever you go."
