World Cup and Ballon d'Or icon, 64, 'dating bikini model', 26, nearly 40 years his junior

Lothar Matthaus was no stranger to scoring - but reportedly bagging a model nearly 40 years his junior might be his most stunning achievement to date.

The German, 64, lifted the World Cup at Italia 90, going on to claim the Ballon d'Or later that year. Away from his national team, Matthaus inspired Bayern Munich to six Bundesliga titles alongside one Serie A and UEFA Cup triumph with Inter Milan.

Once described by Argentina football icon Maradona as his fiercest opponent, the Die Mannschaft record appearance holder won it all playing at centre back as well as in defensive, central and attacking midfield roles.

However, the German has been wed five times - with his most recent marriage ending in 2021, lasting seven years with Anastasia Klimko. And the man nicknamed Der Panzer has now been spotted with a 26-year-old model.

Matthaus was snapped with at an Austrian ski resort with German model Theresa Sommer.

The stunning brunette, who is reportedly a talented skier, studied economics and management at King's College in London - as well as psychology at Durham University.

And German media spotted her at a ski event in Ischgl, Austria, with Matthaus. "We are here for the skiing, and that is a private matter," he said with a smile when asked about his appearances by Bunte magazine.

Matthaus was first married to Silvia between 1981 and 1992, with whom he shared two daughters.

He then tied the knot with Swiss model and TV presenter Lolita Morena with whom he had a son, in 1994 before they split in 1999.

While coaching Partizan in Belgrade he would fall in love with 31-year-old Serbian socialite Marijana Matthaus - but they would split in 2007 and finalise their divorce in 2009.

While going through his divorce proceedings, then 47, he would meet 21-year-old Ukrainian model Kristina Liliana Chudinova at Oktoberfest in Munich. Once again, he would tie the knot, but the pair soon split.

That was after German tabloids published photos which appeared to show then 22-year-old Chudinova being unfaithful.

Heartbroken, the legendary midfielder removed his wedding ring on live TV, and declared he would no longer be paying for his wife's planned breast reduction.

Matthaus would marry once more, to Anastasia, before splitting in 2021. When asked about what he wanted in a relationship, the hopeless (in more ways than one) romantic said: "I'm actually a very simple person. A very normal man."
