Cambridge’s dramatic win over Huddersfield keeps survival hopes alive
Posted Saturday, April 19, 2025 by PA

Cambridge responded superbly to a late Huddersfield equaliser to boost their faint survival hopes with a 2-1 victory in West Yorkshire.
The result leaves Neil Harris’ side five points away from safety with just three games left to play, while Huddersfield again passed up the chance to move closer to the top six.
The first half passed by without any excitement whatsoever for either side before Cambridge finally broke the deadlock on 69 minutes, quickly sending the ball back the other way after a Huddersfield goal kick for Josh Stokes to race on to.
The forward looked to have lost possession, but Josh Ruffels’ clearance went straight to James Brophy on the edge of the box, who curled it into the top corner.
After Huddersfield wasted numerous chances to score, Josh Koroma equalised in the 89th minute following a scrappy corner.
There was still time for one last twist as Sullay Kaikai fired Brophy’s square ball into the top corner in stoppage time.
