Josh Umerah’s late winner boosts Dagenham’s survival hopes

Josh Umerah scored a dramatic late winner to boost Dagenham’s chances of avoiding the drop with a 1-0 win over already-relegated Ebbsfleet at the Chigwell Construction Stadium.

Josh Rees struck the bar in the early stages for the hosts and Dion Pereira flashed an effort wide of the target, while at the other end Josh Passley was denied by Jake Turner before the break.

Pereira and Rees both saw efforts saved by Mark Cousins in the second half but it looked like Dagenham would fail to make the breakthrough until Jake Hessenthaler was fouled in the box in the 89th minute and Umerah converted.

Passley was sent off in stoppage time after an off-the-ball incident.
