A football fan tried to eat a raw pig's head as he celebrated his team's league title win.

Revolting footage showed two supporters in Brazil holding up the animal part as elated supporters chanted around them.

Corinthians defeated Palmeiras

Bafflingly, one of the men could be seen clamping his teeth around one of the pig's ears in a bid to rip a chunk out of it.

After he finally let go, the second man could be seen holding the animal's head aloft with a third man, as they posed for a gruesome snap.

The bizarre clip was filmed as Corinthians fans celebrated their team’s victory over Palmeiras in the final of the Campeonato Paulista last Thursday - one of South America's most intense fixtures.

The Campeonato Paulista is the top-flight professional football league in the Brazilian state of São Paulo.

Corinthians fans have long used pig’s heads to taunt followers of their derby rivals Palmeiras, whose mascot is a pig.

One was thrown onto the pitch when the two teams met in the Brazilian championship in November last year.

The animal part landed on the sidelines as Palmeiras prepared to take a corner, as reported by NeedToKnow.

Some superstitious Corinthians fans claim their team never loses when a pig’s head makes an appearance at a clash with their rivals.

One disgusted fan commented on the video, posting online: "These sick individuals need treatment!" Another said: "Disgusting." And a third wrote: "Bunch of savages."

Corinthians won the first match in the two-legged final 1-0 away at Palmeiras, before a 0-0 draw at home saw them crowned champions.

They have won the Campeonato Paulista a record 31 times, compared to Palmeiras' 26 triumphs.
