Exeter boss Gary Caldwell sees red in bore draw at Lincoln

Exeter boss Gary Caldwell was sent off as his side drew 0-0 with Lincoln in a League One mid-table clash.

Caldwell was incensed when Ryan Trevitt’s stoppage-time strike was adjudged to have hit Angus MacDonald on the hand to deny the Grecians a late win at Sincil Bank.

The Imps had the better chances in the first half as captain Paudie O’Connor headed Tom Bayliss’ corner over.

And Bayliss rattled the crossbar with a header of his own in first-half stoppage time.

Exeter goalkeeper Joe Whitworth produced a good stop to keep out Jovon Makama on the hour mark.

Former Irish international James Collins fired wide of the mark from Sean Roughan’s dangerous cross.

Down the other end, Caleb Watts shot wide of the mark after Demetri Mitchell nodded the ball into his path.

Exeter threatened to steal the spoils late on, but substitute Pat Jones could only fire straight at City keeper George Wickens.

And the visitors had the ball in the net in stoppage time, but it was ruled out due to striking MacDonald and led to Caldwell’s sending off.
