Cambridge’s revival under new boss Neil Harris halted by Stevenage

Cambridge suffered a first defeat since Neil Harris returned as head coach as they lost 1-0 at home to Stevenage.
All the evening’s action came in the second half after a first period desperately short on quality with no shots and only one corner.
Stevenage became the dominant side after the break, with Nathan Bishop superbly tipping Brandon Hanlan’s effort onto the post after Jamie Reid’s centre on 50 minutes.
The visitors did take the lead on 64 minutes through Reid, who ran past Jubril Okedina before firing unstoppably beyond Bishop from just outside the box.
Bishop impressed again 20 minutes from time, tipping Eli King’s effort wide, before captain Carl Piergianni headed the resulting corner over.
Elias Kachunga could not get on the end of a Josh Stokes cross in a rare period of Cambridge threat before Stevenage broke down the other end and Jordan Roberts was denied by yet another Bishop save.
Hanlan should have sealed the points in added time when he ran clear from inside his own half before shooting wide.
