'World's most beautiful player' quits new club after 'I just hate football' statement

Ana Maria Markovic, dubbed the ‘world’s most beautiful footballer’ announced she left Braga on deadline day.

The 25-year-old Croatian forward revealed that her short time at Braga had come to an end on Monday during the chaos of transfer deadline day in the Premier League and across the majority of Europe’s top leagues.

Markovic only joined the Portuguese team in August having left Swiss side Grasshoppers after four years. Markovic began her career with FC Zurich, meaning her move to Braga was the first time she had played senior football for a team outside of Switzerland.

But her next move remains unknown after she announced she was leaving Braga in an emotional message to her 3.1million followers on Instagram. The blonde bombshell’s post added a number of snaps of her and team-mates during her time with Braga.

She wrote: “Sometimes things don’t go as planned. After just half a season, I decided to leave SC Braga.

"It was a short but intense journey with ups and downs, but one in which I was able to grow and develop a lot as a footballer.

"The best part? Definitely my team-mates! Thank you for your support, team spirit, and all the great moments on and off the pitch – you are amazing!

"A big thank you to the club for their professionalism throughout my time here and to the fans, for the support. The journey continues and I’m excited for what’s next!”

Ana Maria Markovic sent followers crazy when posting on holiday.

Markovic had previously posted a video to TikTok where she wrote: “Sometimes I just hate football.”

The striking beauty was revealed to be her saying her goodbyes to boyfriend Tomas Ribeiro who signed for Farnese from Vitoria in the winter transfer window – swapping the north of Portugal for the south.

She also wrote the caption: "Good luck bubi, you will do amazing and I can't wait to see your games."
