Emery expects Villa to be active on deadline day
Aston Villa manager Unai Emery is aiming to bring in multiple new signings before the January transfer window closes on Monday. The club is actively working on bolstering the squad, with a deal for Manchester United's Marcus Rashford nearing completion.
"We are working to try and get some players to join us on Sunday or Monday because we have to replace Diego Carlos, we have to replace (Emi) Buendia, we have to replace Jhon Duran," Emery said.
"It is not easy because we don't want to replace with players that will not help us like I want. We are being very demanding in it, we have to be intelligent. In case we can find a player to help us in the level we want, we will do, but we have versatile players. We have to compete and try to get the level we want with the players we have and I think tomorrow or Monday we will be adding two or three more players."
Emery coy on Rashford links to Villa
Aston Villa manager Unai Emery has revealed that striker Ollie Watkins sustained a minor injury during the team's 2-0 defeat to Wolves at Molineux.
"Yes, I changed him because he was feeling a little bit of pain in his muscle. Hopefully, tomorrow, with testing, it is not important," Emery informed.
With Watkins sidelined, speculation has grown about whether Villa will look to bring in another forward before the transfer deadline. Emery acknowledged the challenge of signing a new striker, saying, "To sign one striker is not easy. We have some players. Usually Watkins is being consistent, playing matches, recovering strong and playing matches in a row, two or three matches. But today he got injured. Hopefully, it is small."
When asked about a potential loan move for Marcus Rashford, Emery remained non-committal.
"Tomorrow, Monday we will see," said the Villa boss. "We are working on different players. We will know on Monday how we have finished."
Southampton confident of keeping Dibling amid PL interest

"I think Dibling will stay," said Juric. "I hope so. There's no news. He can be really important for us. He then added there could be incomings for Southampton. I'm expecting something to be more competitive, of course."

Earlier in the window, Rashford had shown a strong preference for a move to Barcelona. However, with that transfer failing to materialize, a switch to Aston Villa presents an appealing alternative.
