Harper Beckham, 13, dodges a kiss from her dad after he defended himself over backlash

Harper Beckham was hilariously seen pulling away from dad David Beckham as he leaned in for a kiss.

The 13-year-old dodged the former England captain's attempts to give her a peck at his launch event for Hugo Boss in London. The lighthearted moment saw the teen lean back as her dad went for a kiss. A playful moment ensued as David continued to try and plant a kiss on his daughter as she giggled offered her cheek instead.

It comes almost a decade after David was forced to defend himself after fans criticised him for kissing a five-year-old Harper on the lips. At the time, David split fans with his action. While some labelled the image as "beautiful" and showing off the pair's "close bond," others hit out at the snap, calling it "disgusting".

Taking to Facebook Live in 2017, David insisted: "I kiss all my kids on the lips. Brooklyn maybe not. Brooklyn is 18, so he might find that a little strange, but I'm very affectionate with the kids. It's how I was brought up - and Victoria - and it's how we are with our children.

"We want to show our kids love and we protect them, look after them and support them. Having children is the most special thing in the world."

David and Harper have often shared the sweet moment over the years. She was seen hilariously grimacing when her proud dad planted a kiss on her cheek at an Inter Miami game in October last year. Back in October 2020, David once again sparked much debate among fans when another snap was shared of him kissing his daughter Harper on the lips. Mum Victoria gushed at the time: "The best daddy."

The latest moment comes as David's family supported his latest venture. They were seen looking dapper as they enjoyed dancing the night away on the dance floor. Harper attended the event wearing a dress from her mother's collection.

Cruz's girlfriend, Jack Apostel, was also wearing the former Spice Girls' designs. She was snapped head to toe in Posh Spice's gear, wearing a white suit with red lace underwear. Romeo was also at the event with his new partner, Kim Turnbull. However, Brooklyn and wife Nicola Peltz Beckham were absent.

The party is said to have continued into the early hours of the morning at Marylebone's Chiltern Firehouse. Among those in attendance were James Corden and Halle Berry.
