A-lister Ryan Reynolds showed up at a pub in Wrexham last night – before really delighting punters by announcing he'd get the drinks in.
The Hollywood icon, who famously co-owns League One's Wrexham AFC with Rob McElhenney, was seen addressing jubilant masses at the Fat Boar pub in the centre of town. Clips emerged on social media of the Deadpool actor, 48, promising boozers: "I'm buying a round for everyone in here", prompting whoops from around the establishment.
The star joked: "After that I'm going to get the f*** out of here, I've got four kids," before adding: "And I'm also very excited about tomorrow - I hope you'll all be watching and, you know, up the town, right."
He added: "We're probably bussing another 100 people in as we speak. If I don't come and visit each and every one of you in your homes tonight, I just want to say happy holidays."
Speaking to the Daily Star, the Fat Boar's owner Rich Watkin said "the hardest part was keeping people away from [the stars] while they finished their meal in a private section!"
He added: "Buying everyone a drink - that was a classy gesture from a classy bloke, it was great for our business."
Wrexham take on Cambridge at the Racecourse Ground this afternoon, with Phil Parkinson's side sitting second on goal difference behind League One leaders Wycombe. Fans of the club will be hoping Wrexham can secure promotion two years in row and jump up to the Championship.
After his display of generosity, Reynolds posed with adoring fans inside the Fat Boar alongside fellow actor Channing Tatum, who also starred in the recent film Deadpool and Wolverine. The blockbuster also features Wrexham striker Paul Mullins as 'Welshpool'.
And he wasn't the only Hollywood star in two. Brandon Sklenar – who starred in It Ends With Us alongside Ryan's wife Blake Lively – also hit the town. They all flew in via private jet to take in the League One match – and a few Wrexham Lagers.
The Welsh football club has seen its fortunes reversed since being bought by Reynolds and McElhenney in November 2020, while a Netflix series documented the Hollywood takeover.
After just three years in charge, Reynolds and McElhenney witnessed their club win the National League outright in the 2022/23 campaign - losing just three of their league 46 games to accrue 111 points and gain promotion to League Two for the first time in 15 years.

And Wrexham also hit the ground running in their first season back in League Two, finishing second after another 46 league games behind Stockport County in April this year.
Recently Norfolk's Wroxham FC piped up, fearing they missed out on Wrexham's funding "by one letter". The club appealed to Reynolds, saying that having an 'O' instead of 'E' was all that cost them.
