Roy Keane watched on from the ITV studio in Wembley as his daughter's boyfriend netted on his England debut.

Taylor Harwood-Bellis made his Three Lions senior debut on Sunday evening as he come off the bench against the Republic of Ireland for Kyle Walker. And it took him 17 minutes to power home from a Jude Bellingham cross for England's fifth of the game.

The Manchester United icon might have split loyalties in the studio - with Harwood-Bellis happily engaged to Keane's daughter, Leah. Keane was asked about Harwood-Bellis joining his family: "Bittersweet for me this," he joked watching the goal back.

"It’s not done and dusted yet, things can change really quickly in the Keane household... It's nice for him, it's good for him to make his debut. He is a really kid good and his family have done a great job.

"He has got a goal threat. Over the last few months, he has showed he has got a goal in him for Southampton."

Harwood-Bellis made his debut wearing the No.16 shirt, the same number that Keane made famous at the Red Devils.

The defender has been with his fiancee Leah when he got the call from Lee Carsley to tell him he’d been selected: "I couldn’t quite believe it at first. It was a feeling of pride. I was with my partner.

"Then I phoned my dad and he was very proud, the fact I had played for England through the age groups and now I was in the seniors. All my family were delighted."

Harwood-Bellis hails from a sporting family - his sister Rebecca was once a Great Britain youth basketball international. His uncle Steve is president of their local team Stockport County and his dad used to spend matchdays as the Vernon Bear club mascot.
