Andy Woodman ‘gutted’ after Carlisle leave it late to draw with Bromley

Bromley manager Andy Woodman cut a frustrated figure after Dan Adu-Adjei’s stoppage-time equaliser earned Carlisle a 1-1 draw at Hayes Lane.
The 19-year-old, on loan from Bournemouth, cancelled out Michael Cheek’s opener for the home side, who also had Lewis Leigh sent off.
Woodman said: “Frustration is the word on numerous levels.
“I thought in the first half we were hunting in the wrong areas with the wrong numbers and we got played around too easily.
“We changed it at half-time and looked more of an attacking threat and got our noses in front.
“We knew it would be a difficult and tight game as both teams were playing with an eye on not wanting to lose.
“But ultimately I’m gutted for the players that we didn’t get the three points but there are no free rides in this league.
“We created our own problems and Carlisle hurt us because of it.
“We knew they would keep the ball really well but they didn’t force Grant Smith into many major saves. We should have kept the clean sheet but we have to stop killing ourselves.”
Carlisle manager Mike Williamson felt a point was the least they deserved.
He said: “I thought we were excellent, the boys played with so much composure across the 90 minutes and carried out the gameplan as required.
“The only disappointment was we weren’t clean enough in the final third but I can’t fault the endeavour and energy on show.
“The desire and mentality to get back in the game was really good to see.
“It was bad decision-making that led to the penalty but heads didn’t drop and the mentality didn’t change. I’m proud of the focus and desire demonstrated to haul us back level.
“Even after the equaliser the boys showed the desire to pushed to get the victory which was pleasing to see.”
