Juventus ponder move for out-of-favour Arsenal defender Jakub Kiwior

Juventus want to shore up their defence by signing Arsenal defender Jakub Kiwior in the upcoming January transfer window.

  • Juve keen to add Kiwior to their squad
  • Looking at potential transfer for January
  • Arsenal open to selling Polish centre-back

WHAT HAPPENED?

Arsenal are ready to cash in on centre-back Jakub Kiwior, opening the doors to a potential return to Serie A as Juventus are lining up a move for the Poland international, according to a recent report by Calciomercato. Juventus manager Thiago Motta would be happy to reunite with Kiwior, with whom he worked during their time at Spezia.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Kiwior has struggled to find regular playing time under Mikel Arteta since making the switch to the Premier League from Spezia in January 2023. The 24-year-old has found himself on the periphery at the Emirates Stadium, but Juventus could provide an exit route for the out-of-favour man.

The Bianconeri are left thin in defence following an ACL injury to centre-back Gleison Bremer. As such, Kiwior offers a viable option to provide cover at the heart of the defence, with Arsenal happy to let him leave in the upcoming winter transfer window.

DID YOU KNOW?

In addition to Kiwior, Juventus are also monitoring Milan Skriniar's situation at PSG. The former Inter defender has been on the fringes under Luis Enrique and is reportedly keen on a departure from Parc des Princes.

WHAT NEXT FOR JUVENTUS AND ARSENAL?

Arsenal's recent 1-1 draw against Chelsea at the Stamford Bridge leaves them nine points adrift of Liverpool in the Premier League. Arteta's troops will hope to end their four-game winless run in the English top-flight when they host high-flying Nottingham Forest on November 23.

As for Juventus, they maintained their unbeaten record in Serie A with a comfortable 2-0 win over Torino over the weekend to move to within just two points of league leaders Napoli. Their next game is a tough trip to San Siro, where they'll take on AC Milan on November 23.
