We could have won four games – Michael Duff frustrated with draw at Crawley

Huddersfield boss Michael Duff admitted he was not happy with a point after his team twice fought back from a goal behind to force a 2-2 draw at struggling Crawley.

Duff felt the Terriers had enough chances “to win four games” but is pleased that his side are now unbeaten in the last five league games.

Huddersfield, behind to a Rushian Hepburn-Murphy goal at the break, levelled through substitute Rhys Healey and, after Max Anderson had restored Crawley’s lead, Herbie Kane made it 2-2 as the Terriers drew for only the second time this season.

Duff said: “Am I happy with a point at Crawley? No, but people assume that you roll over these teams.

“They had three shots and scored two goals. We could have won four games today.

“But we’re now unbeaten in five in the league and it’s a start. Now we need to find moments of quality when games start to get stretched.”

Duff admitted he felt “mixed emotions” on a day when actor Patrick Stewart, a life long Huddersfield fan, watched his side from the stands.

“He was great. He has legendary status but I’m not sure how many of the lads know about Star Trek,” Duff added.

“He came in to see the players and loves watching the team whenever he can.”

Crawley manager Rob Elliot was delighted to take a point against a team he is tipping for promotion this season.

He said: “We’ve taken a very, very good point against an exceptionally strong and very good side that are well managed and drilled.

“They will be in the top three, I’ve no doubt about that.

“I’m really pleased with the performance as it showed a bit of everything.

“It showed all the areas we can be good at and it showed all the areas we need to improve on.”

The Red Devils remain in the bottom four but are unbeaten in their last five games in all competitions.

Former Gateshead boss Elliot added: “The absolute A-star performance I want to get to is probably a long way off.

“But it’s a new group and the lads are understanding me and I’m understanding them.

“I’m learning as well – I am a very inexperienced manager and I’ll make no bones about that.”
