Lincoln boss Michael Skubala delighted with win over Stockport

Lincoln boss Michael Skubala was delighted with his side’s response as they got back to winning ways with a 2-1 victory over Stockport.

Skubala was desperate for his charges to bounce back after a 3-0 hammering at Crawley on Tuesday night.

They started poorly as Isaac Olaofe fired the Hatters in front inside nine minutes.

But thunderous headers from Ben House and Bailey Cadamarteri either side of half-time secured the points at Sincil Bank.

“I thought we were magnificent today,” said the Imps manager. “If you want a blueprint of how we can play, that was it.

“What I really liked was that we were still calm and we played and we were threatening even after going behind.

“It’s a response. But in reality we were good first half on Tuesday. But we’ll have moments like that, it’s not all going to be nice and work for us all the time.

“The response is really good because it shows what we’ve got. We’ve got a belief in what we’re doing. It’s a process.

“I thought we were dominant against a really good team.

“I love the guys, I know what they’re made of character-wise. But after going behind we were still calm.

“On Tuesday we looked panicked. But we played both long and short today and you need the maturity to do both.

“It was one of the best performances for me this season.”

It was only a second loss of the campaign for Dave Challinor’s outfit, but that doesn’t tell the whole story as they have now failed to win in four outings.

Substitute Kyle Wootton, one of a trio of half-time swaps, twice came close to stealing a point late on.

And after a frustrating afternoon, Challinor said: “We’ve made poor decisions as a team and that’s made me make decisions at half-time.

“The first half stunk of Charlton away, score a goal and then refuse to play. If that’s how we do it then more of the same will happen in the future.

“I could be really critical and emotional about the performance, but we need to be bigger than that.”

Goalkeeper Corey Addai was part of the half-time rejig.

Challinor added: “He’s treated like any other player in the team.

“We could have made plenty of changes at that point, not just the ones we did.

“Hindsight is great. It hasn’t worked out, but that’s what I thought would help settle us down and give us a foothold.

“We will have a discussion about who starts [in goal] on Tuesday, as to what gives us the best chance of winning on the night. I’m comfortable with that.”
