Tony Docherty says Mo Sylla ‘responsive’ after being taken to hospital

Dundee boss Tony Docherty revealed that midfielder Mo Sylla had to be rushed to the city’s Ninewells Hospital after collapsing in the dressing-room at half-time.

The Dark Blues lost 2-1 to Aberdeen at Dens Park with Kevin Nisbet and Topi Keskinen on the mark for the Dons, with Simon Murray pulling one back for the home side.

However, the proceedings were overshadowed by concerns for Sylla.

Docherty said: “He is responsive at the moment. It wasn’t a nice thing to see. Mo took a turn at half-time.

“The medics were involved and we had to get the players out of there. He’s responsive. He’s in hospital right now. We’ll just need to assess that and see how he is.”

Docherty admitted he was frustrated his team could not make their second-half dominance count and he was also annoyed that there were only three minutes of added time at the end of the game.

The manager said: “It was very frustrating. It’s not often I come in after the game and say the better team lost.

“To be fair to Jimmy (Thelin, Aberdeen manager), he’s an honest guy, and he said that when we shook hands.

“But I reiterated to the players that if I get that consistent level of performance, we will win more games than we lose.

“I have to be careful what I say – the goalkeeper went down for two and a half minutes and there were four stoppages.

“So for me that’s seven or eight minutes. I couldn’t believe it when three minutes went up.

“Everybody in the ground knew there were more than three minutes to play.

“The referee told me the VAR told him three minutes. I’m baffled.”

Aberdeen boss Thelin insists everyone at Pittodrie will be keeping their feet on the ground despite the club’s blistering start to the season.

The Dons extended their run of victories to 12 in all competitions with this William Hill Premiership win over Dundee at Dens.

The ecstatic Aberdeen fans were singing about winning the league but manager Thelin is not getting carried away with the winning streak.

He said: “We don’t talk about it inside the locker room, we talk about it game by game and training by training.

“That is what we are focusing on and that’s why it has happened today with three points.

“It was good to celebrate today with the supporters and how we fought to get the points as it wasn’t an easy game.”

Aberdeen were without in-form striker Pape Habib Gueye for the game with a mystery injury with Thelin adding: “We will see exactly what it is on Monday.”
