Dropping Marcus Rashford 'not a difficult decision' for Erik ten Hag as Man Utd boss explains why Alejandro Garnacho gets the nod against Crystal Palace

WHAT HAPPENED?
Rashford has been benched for United's clash with Palace, in a surprising move from manager Ten Hag. The forward scored last weekend as the Red Devils beat Southampton and netted a brace in their Carabao Cup thumping of Barnsley, but has not been selected for the trip to Selhurst Park.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Instead, Garnacho has been selected on the left wing, with Amad Diallo on the right, as United look to use the majority of their squad. Joshua Zirkzee leads the line, and Ten Hag has explained that he had no problems with dropping Rashford.

WHAT TEN HAG SAID
Ten Hag told Sky Sports: "No, it is not a difficult decision. We have to rotate, we have so many games to cover and we have to give Alejandro games. We have seen he has a lot of end product, he has scored so many goals and assists. He has only started one time this season."

WHAT NEXT?
Rashford's next opportunity to start for United will come in midweek when they start their Europa League campaign against Twente. They then face Tottenham at Old Trafford in the Premier League.
