We showed the other side to our game – Grimsby boss David Artell

David Artell praised his Grimsby squad for showing a different side to their game as they beat Bromley 1-0.
A penalty from captain Danny Rose settled the game at Blundell Park as the Mariners had to dig deep throughout, and especially so after having a player sent-off.
Kieran Green, who won the penalty for Rose to score, saw red in the 85th minute for two bookable offences, but that moment did not stop Grimsby from picking up three points.
It put Artell’s men back on the board after back-to-back defeats, and he said: “You’re always happy when you win the game.
“We’ve certainly played better, but I thought we deserved the win.
“I thought we were the better side and created numerous chances, but we didn’t take any of them until we got the penalty.
“We had lots of shots at goal and none of them have gone in.
“We needed a goal and got one in the end, but we deserved that and showed the other side of the game, which we did really well.
“Bromley are extremely tall and we handed that challenge really well.
“Don’t get me wrong, we have played better with the football, but doing that part pleased me, especially after last week’s first-half performance.”
Bromley manager Andy Woodman said: “It was just that moment, wasn’t it?
“The penalty came from two mistakes in quick succession.
“Grimsby had a fair bit of the ball but they didn’t really hurt us with that.
“We didn’t start great, but you have those moments early doors, especially away from home, and the goal was a real killer for us.
“We are getting punished for everything we do at the moment.
“Getting a clean sheet was the minimum we should have taken from that game.
“We threw everything at it and I certainly can’t fault the boys for their effort.”
