Sven-Goran Eriksson's funeral is taking place in his hometown.

And as the stars of the footballing world, such as David Beckham, descend on the Fryksände Church in the tiny Swedish spot of Torsby on Friday, September 13, they will be welcomed by Yaniseth Alcides. Yaniseth was Eriksson's partner at the time of his death.

Former England manager Eriksson died, aged 76, after revealing he had terminal pancreatic cancer. His bravery in his final days captured the hearts of fans across the globe.

Yaniseth Alcides is a former dancer who hails from Panama, and the pair met in Central America when Eriksson was managing Mexico. In his autobiography, Eriksson described how he met Yaniseth while he was having a drink with a friend in Mexico City in 2008.

He said: "She said her name was Yaniseth and that she worked as a dancer a a restaurant and nightclub not far away. She invited me to come and watch her when she danced."

He added: "The next day I called Yaniseth and asked her over for dinner in my apartment, Pablo cooked the meal. Yaniseth was impressed."

"This year we turned 15 together. And I have hope that we will be together for many more years. I will not lose that hope.”

Yaniseth was seen heavily in the documentary, as it traced Eriksson's final months on the planet, with pair seen living a happy family life alongside Eriksson's children.

Eriksson, himself, looking back on his extraordinary life in the documentary, added: "It was like a fairy tale." He later said: "It was not a normal life. I had a good life, maybe too good, you have to pay for it."
