Erling Haaland of Manchester City scored a brilliant hat-trick against Ipswich
Manchester City star Erling Haaland is really taking off this season, as the striker splashed out £2.1million on private jets.
The 24-year-old goal machine has already scored four times for his side in two games this term. And now his company accounts have revealed he's also got two planes to his name - as his image rights firm York Promotions Ltd spent £2.1m in the world of aviation.
A report attached to the firm's annual accounts revealed this week: "The company has entered into an agreement to acquire an interest in two aircraft for an amount of £2,155,342."
It comes as trademark documents filed in Oslo indicate the Norwegian is also eyeing up the soft beverages market, with plans to launch his own line of energy drinks.
The striking sensation won a battle to re-trademark his own name after a chancer in his home country nipped in front of him and bagged the moniker. Papers filed at the UK's Intellectual Property Office by Erling's lawyers stated he wants to sell: "Drinking water; sports drinks; energy drinks; fruit drinks; fruit juice beverages; protein drinks; carbohydrate drinks; protein-enriched sports beverages; energy drinks containing caffeine; energy drinks [not for medical purposes]."
The accounts for York Promotions Ltd also revealed he built up £12million in assets for the 12 months to last December. It has £7million of cash in the bank with £5million still owed to Haaland by big-name brands.
Haaland earns big and knows how to make his money work for him
Haaland, a Nike icon and the face of men's Breitling watches is also said to have struck a deal with Dolce and Gabbana worth £2million, as a brand ambassador alongside teammate, Jack Grealish.
He runs York Promotions with his dad and manager Alfie, 51, who also played for Man City. In 2021 the dad and son duo sold their £2million Piper M600 private jet in favour of chartering, and have since been flying with the same company used by Formula One driver Charles Leclerc. The business was so flush that nearly £7 million more in earnings was deferred by a year.
Top tax accountant Julia Hoyle – an associate of Haaland's late agent Mino Raiola – is also listed as a director.
