Since Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard decided to take up a job in the Middle East, his wife Alex Curran has been living a life of luxury.
The ex-Reds skipper was appointed as the manager of Saudi Arabian team Al-Ettifaq in July 2023, following his dismissal from Aston Villa.
After acquiring several high-profile players last summer, including former Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson, Gerrard extended his contract until 2027 at the start of this year. The legendary Liverpool midfielder inked a lucrative deal with the Saudi side and is said to be pocketing £15million annually.
Despite being one of the highest-paid coaches globally, his family declined the offer of a house in Damman city and chose not to live in Saudi Arabia.
Instead, his spouse Alex and their four kids are based in Bahrain. The Gulf country is conveniently located near Damman, where Al-Ettifaq is headquartered, allowing Alex and their family to lead a glitzy lifestyle.
Reports suggest that the Gerrard family resides in a plush villa in the Hamala village. Their residence, costing around £10,000 per month, boasts a swimming pool and games room, with members of the Bahraini Royal family as neighbours, reports the Mirror.
Alex and Gerrard started their romance in 2002, tying the knot five years later. Since relocating to the Middle East, it's been reported that the 41-year-old enjoys her time at the Bahrain World Trade Center in Manama, a hub for luxury fashion brands, and The Avenues, a waterfront shopping centre.
Despite Al Ettifaq manager Gerrard splitting his time between two countries, the couple still find ways to enjoy family life.
They hold memberships at the exclusive Four Seasons, home to the Cut restaurant run by Michelin star chef Wolfgang Puck, and the Ritz Carlton, which broadcasts Premier League games in an open-air bar.
The family has also been seen having fun at the Bahrain rugby club.
The pair share four children: Lilly-Ella, 20; Lexie, 18; Lourdes, 12 and Lio, 7. Their youngest kids attend a prestigious English language school in Bahrain, where fees nearly hit £11k per child.
Gerrard's coaching responsibilities involve an hour-long commute from Hamala to Damman, including a 15-mile causeway crossing between the two countries.
Even though the family doesn't reside in Saudi Arabia, it seems the Gerrards have managed to strike a work-life balance, with Steven committed to Al Ettifaq until 2027.
After penning a fresh contract in January, Steven Gerrard spilled the beans on his family's adaptation to their new life: "The renewal decision brought a lot of positive feelings for me and my family, as it was the culmination of the hard work and true dedication that everyone showed from day one," he revealed.
"From the beginning, we realised the size of the responsibility and the number of challenges that awaited us, which prompted us to invest in creating new infrastructure, such as new training facilities and building a new stadium.
"We have achieved remarkable progress in these projects, as a result of the mutual trust between me and the club management."
