Luke Williams criticises Swansea’s ‘lethargic attitude’ in loss to Wycombe

Swansea boss Luke Williams criticised his players’ attitude after they were knocked out of the Carabao Cup at home by League One side Wycombe.
Williams made eight changes from the side that drew 1-1 with Cardiff on Sunday and Richard Kone’s goal was enough to see the Chairboys into the third round.
“The first half was atrocious. We improved after that, but it’s still not a good performance,” said Williams.
“There was a lack of energy, lack of intensity, lack of aggression, and lack of quality in a disjointed performance.
“They’ve certainly been told they can’t come out with that type of lethargic attitude.”
Matt Bloomfield’s Wycombe were rewarded with a home tie against Aston Villa in the next round.
“We played some really good stuff in the first half and we knew we were going to have large spells without the ball. We worked hard on our shape and structure,” said Bloomfield.
“We had to enjoy it when we had the ball playing against a possession-based team. We created some good chances in the first half.
“We had nine or 10 players out and we had to rotate the team. I’m immensely proud of the way the boys defended.
“We knew we’d need to be so well drilled in and out of possession and we executed it superbly. We had a lot of players missing through injury but the lads performed excellently.”
