Mat Sadler hails Walsall’s resilience after thrilling comeback

Mat Sadler was rightly delighted after seeing League Two Walsall come from two goals down to beat League One promotion hopefuls Huddersfield 3-2 in the Carabao Cup.
A Nathan Lowe brace and a Michal Helik own goal overturned the visitors’ efforts from Josh Koroma and Josh Ruffels in either half, with Matty Pearson shown a straight red and Lowe having a penalty saved in between.
Sadler said: “We missed a couple of chances, missed a penalty, missed a load of other chances, but it was a real thoroughly deserved victory.
“That’s amazing to say (against) a team that have won all four of their games in the division above.
“They’re an incredibly well-drilled athletic team so we had to be right on our game as well. I’m extremely proud of the football club because everyone came together in that way.
“The resilience from the team to come back, the determination to not let ourselves go out of the cup, that was there for all to see.”
Huddersfield boss Michael Duff wants to see a response from his players after their poor showing, saying: “I think we fell the wrong side of some big decisions. I disagree with quite a few of them.
“But ultimately we got ourselves in front and we can be better. We’ve given up poor goals and we’ve got to find a way of seeing the game out, 10 men or not.
“I thought we got out-fought and out-run, which is a warning sign.”
