The Man Utd winger shared a picture of himself as a child in his mother's arms.

He captioned the snap: "Rest in peace Mum, may Allah forgive you."

The Ivorian ace has received plenty of support from fans on social media who have reacted to the news.

One posted: "My thoughts and prayers are with Amad Diallo."

A second commented: "May her soul rest in peace."

Another wrote: "We are all with you Amad Diallo. Stay strong king."

A fourth said: "We are all behind you Diallo."

Diallo left the Ivory Coast, aged just 10 as he and his brother and moved to Italy.

They settled in Parma, where a young Amad would star for youth club Boca Barco.

However, in 2020, Diallo and his brother were at the centre of a child trafficking investigation, having allegedly been smuggled into Italy.

A year later the pair took a plea bargain with authorities and paid a fine of £42,000.

Diallo has previously opened up on how proud his mum was of his flourishing career.

He revealed that she was in tears after he made his debut for the Red Devils against Real Sociedad in 2021.

He told the club website: "It was all so hard to believe.

"After I made my United debut against Real Sociedad, I called my mum after the game and she was in tears, saying that she couldn't believe it.

"For me, it was an incredible feeling because getting to play at the highest level only happens once in a lifetime.

"Mum was really proud of me. She was always confident that I would make it to the top, but she always told me to stay humble, to work hard and never give up.

"So, when she saw me play those eight minutes or so, it was everything to her. We couldn't believe it."

Diallo started United's first game of the Premier League season against Fulham at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils won the fixture 1-0 after Joshua Zirkzee's first goal for the club.

The team have since travelled down to the South Coast ahead of their clash against Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday.
