Harrogate stun Lincoln in EFL Cup first round

League Two Harrogate produced an EFL Cup first-round upset as they won 2-1 at League One Lincoln.
Second-half goals from Sam Folarin and James Daly were enough for ex-Imp Simon Weaver’s men, with substitute Jovon Makama grabbing a late penalty for Lincoln.
An uninspired first half saw both teams cancel each other out, although Daly fired a shot narrowly over while he then created a great chance for Folarin, who couldn’t get a proper connection, just before the break.
Imps striker Freddie Draper saw one effort deflected wide and cracked another shot over the bar.
Folarin then made up for his miss four minutes after the break as he got on the end of Ellis Taylor’s cross after he had jinxed his way past two defenders to the byline before squaring for the striker, who couldn’t miss.
Harrogate made it two on the hour mark as hesitancy in the home defence was seized upon by Daly and with keeper Zach Jeacock in no-man’s land, he simply smashed the ball low into the centre of the net from the edge of the box.
City reduced the arrears with a penalty in the 85th minute. Ben House was bundled over by Toby Sims and Makama sent James Belshaw the wrong way from the spot.
