De Ligt has not travelled with the Bayern squad to South Korea for their pre-season games, as he eyes an exit away from Germany.

Former West Ham target Mazraoui, who also played under the Dutchman for Ajax, could come in to compete with Diogo Dalot for the right back spot.

United hoped their joint bid would be enough to secure the targets but the offer was rejected by the Bundesliga giants, according to The Athletic.

It is not yet known how much was put on the table in order to snap up the pair, though United's £30million bid for De Ligt was rejected last week.

He's signed the likes of Lisandro Martinez, Rasmus Hojlund, and Andre Onana, during his first two seasons in Manchester.

Joshua Zirkzee and Yoro have been the main additions so far this summer.

The spending surge is likely to be offset by departures as United are open to selling a large number of players to balance the books.

Scott McTominay looks to be on his way out as interest arises from Fulham and Tottenham.

United are hoping Saudi Arabia will come calling for Casemiro - who failed to replicate the form shown during his first season last term.
