The 21-year-old attacking midfielder is currently on holiday after impressing for the Netherlands at Euro 2024.
Man Utd are reportedly set to hijack Bayern Munich's move for Xavi Simons
Simons is contracted to Paris Saint-Germain but shone on loan at RB Leipzig last season in the Bundesliga.
His performances have led to huge interest from across the continent, but it looked to be Bayern Munich that had won the race to sign him.
He had already reportedly agreed terms with the Bundesliga giants.
However, L'Equipe states that United are hopeful that they can hijack the move.
Erik ten Hag is said to be a big admirer of the youngster and that his versatility would make him a fine addition to his Old Trafford squad.
But being able to negotiate a fee with PSG could prove to be tricky.
They reportedly rejected a £42m offer last year and believe his value has rocketed after his fine Euros.
But they seem undeterred, especially by the fact that Bayern already seem to have a switch in motion, and allegedly have an added advantage.
United and PSG are currently working on a £60m deal to take 23-year-old Uruguayan midfielder Manuel Ugarte to Old Trafford from the Parc des Princes.
That reportedly means that PSG are willing to do business with the Red Devils again.
And United could also hold another potential trick up their sleeve.
He spent the 2022/23 season on loan at PSV playing under Ruud van Nistelrooy - the legendary Dutchman who has just joined Ten Hag's backroom team.
United confirmed the signing of Lille prodigy Leny Yoro yesterday.
The centre-back, 18, completed his medical after the clubs agreed a £52m deal and penned a five-year contract.
He and Ugarte both share Jorge Mendes as an agent.
Yoro was the second arrival this week after Dutch forward Joshua Zirkzee signed from Bologna for £36.5m.
