Leicester City linked with shock move to appoint ex-Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri as Enzo Maresca prepares for Stamford Bridge move

Leicester City are plotting a move to appoint former Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri as Enzo Maresca prepares to join the Blues.

WHAT HAPPENED?
According to Alfredo Pedulla, the Foxes have included the Italian coach on their managerial shortlist as they look to replace Chelsea-bound Maresca. The 65-year-old ex-Blues boss has been without a job since March when he parted ways with Lazio.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
The report further claims that the veteran coach is yet to decide on his future amid interest from Serie A's Bologna who could come after Sarri if Thiago Motta decides to leave. The former Scudetto-winning Juventus manager also received an offer from Greek top-division side Panathinaikos, however, he turned them down.

DID YOU KNOW?
Other than the Italian, the newly promoted Premier League side are also eyeing a move for Dutch legend Ruud van Nistelrooy who previously managed PSV in the Eredivisie.

WHAT NEXT FOR LEICESTER CITY?
With Maresca set to formally join the West London side, Leicester will have to find a suitable candidate in the coming weeks who could take charge at King Power Stadium.
