Man Utd outcast Mason Greenwood makes big statement on his future after 'bitter sweet ending' to season at Getafe

Manchester United loanee Mason Greenwood has issued a big statement on his future after a "bitter sweet ending" to his season at Getafe.

WHAT HAPPENED?
Greenwood joined Getafe on a season-long loan from United last September and went onto score 10 goals and bag eight assists in 35 appearances. Now his time with the La Liga club has come to an end, the 22-year-old has sent an emotional parting message to supporters. The one-time England international cut a wistful tone, however, as his last game for the club ended in defeat against Real Mallorca, and saw team-mate David Soria suffer a head injury that caused him to lose consciousness, before being taken to hospital.

WHAT MASON GREENWOOD SAID
Alongside a host of photos from his time at the club, Greenwood wrote on Instagram: "Incredibly grateful to the Getafe family and fans for an amazing season, Thank you for making me feel welcomed and one of your own. I enjoyed every second, alongside my teammates and club. A bitter sweet ending, but it was a pleasure to play for you, I wish you all the best."

THE BIGGER PICTURE
The forward may have played his last game for United, with the Red Devils academy product linked with a host of teams across Europe as they reportedly seek to sanction a permanent sale in the summer window. His contract at Old Trafford expires in 2025 but United do have the option to extend that by a further 12 months. Wherever his future lies, it seems Greenwood will not return to Getafe, going by his comments.

WHAT NEXT?
Greenwood, who is reportedly on the radar of Juventus, Atletico Madrid, Napoli and Borussia Dortmund, will now head off on his summer break following the conclusion of his loan spell, where Getafe finished 12th in La Liga.
