Thomas Tuchel to stay?! Harry Kane, Manuel Neuer and Thomas Muller among Bayern stars pushing for German giants to prevent coach's departure after being rejected by several candidates

A host of Bayern Munich players including Harry Kane are urging the club to keep Thomas Tuchel in charge next season.

  • Tuchel due to leave Bayern this summer
  • Guided club to UCL semi-finals
  • Players divided on German's exit

WHAT HAPPENED?

Bayern's run of poor form in the league saw them forfeit their Bundesliga crown to Bayer Leverkusen, ending their run of 11 consecutive titles. As a result, the former Chelsea boss was told he would not be continuing as the Bavarian club's head coach. But after enjoying an impressive run in the Champions League, several stars are now reportedly keen for Tuchel to stay.

WHAT THE REPORT SAID

Tuchel was not given a farewell at the end of Bayern's final home match of the season and, according to Sky Germany, with several coaches having reportedly turned down the job, players - including Kane, Thomas Muller and Manuel Neuer - are now advocating for their current coach to stay.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Despite Bayern's failure in the Bundesliga this season, Tuchel's team put in a solid performance in Europe, making it all the way to the Champions League semi-finals before losing out to Real Madrid by conceding two late goals in the second leg of the tie.

WHAT NEXT FOR TUCHEL?

Reports suggest that if Tuchel does leave Munich, he will have no shortage of offers from clubs outside of Germany. The 50-year-old has been linked with the Manchester United and Chelsea job and even admitted he could return to the Premier League.
