Liverpool make transfer decision on goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher amid interest from Nottingham Forest and Celtic

Liverpool could agree to sell goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher amid interest from Nottingham Forest and Celtic.

  • Liverpool make transfer decision on Kelleher
  • Forest and Celtic keen on signing goalkeeper
  • Reds could sell the player in the summer

WHAT HAPPENED?

Kelleher, who graduated from Liverpool's youth academy, has been a part of the senior side since 2019. In the current season, he has enjoyed a good run of form having appeared in 26 games across all competitions and stepping up when first-choice custodian Alisson was injured.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

According to the Daily Mail, Nottingham Forest approached the Reds over a possible transfer of the Irish goalkeeper in the January transfer window but saw their bid turned down. Now Forest are reportedly ready to come up with a fresh offer in the summer, however, they could face competition from Celtic who are also keen on his signature.

The report further claimed that the Merseyside club are unlikely to stand in Kelleher's way if he wants to leave the club in search of more game time.

DID YOU KNOW?

If Kelleher leaves Anfield ahead of the 2024/25 season, the club will have to find his replacement. They are reportedly interested in signing Sunderland's Anthony Patterson.

WHAT NEXT FOR LIVERPOOL?

Jurgen Klopp's side will be next seen in action on Thursday as they take on Atalanta in the second leg of their Europa League quarter-final clash in Italy. The Reds fell 3-0 in the first leg, so an uphill battle awaits them.
