Man Utd ready to pounce! Adrien Rabiot decides to leave Juventus on a free transfer amid Red Devils interest

Juventus' Adrien Rabiot looks likely to leave the club this summer with Manchester United ready to pounce on the midfielder on a free transfer.

  • Rabiot will leave Juventus this summer
  • Contract expires at the end of the season
  • Wanted by Man Utd and Newcastle

WHAT HAPPENED?

The French international's Juventus contract is scheduled to expire in June, and talks to extend it are presently at a stalemate. As a result, United are very interested in signing the former Paris Saint-Germain midfielder this summer as they look to bolster their midfield. The reports have also suggested that fellow Premier League side, Newcastle are also interested in Rabiot's service and would be equipped to take on Red Devils for his signature.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

The Frenchman signed with Juventus in 2019, but his initial contract expired at the end of the previous season. Juve decided to extend his deal with a one-year contract, even though they had hoped he would sign a longer-term contract. According to Calciomercato, after their efforts earlier in the season to tie him down to a long-term contract, Juventus have given up on trying to retain him and will let him leave the club.

DID YOU KNOW?

The Red Devils were also heavily linked with Rabiot last summer, but ultimately decided to sign Sofyan Amrabat on loan as an alternative. At the end of the season, Amrabat will return to Fiorentina, having failed to make an impression at Old Trafford, which would leave the spot open for the 29-year-old Rabiot.

WHAT NEXT FOR RABIOT?

It is highly likely that Man Utd will go all out for Rabiot this summer, with new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe looking to shake up the dressing room. The shake up could see multiple new signings and also the departure of key figures such as Casemiro and Christian Eriksen.
