Revealed: The insane fees Chelsea paid to agents
Chelsea spent a staggering £75m ($93m) on agent fees in the last two transfer windows, amid speculation they could be punished for breaching PSR.
Per Martyn Ziegler of The Times, Chelsea paid an astonishing £75m to agents across the last two transfer windows. In those windows - January of 2024 and the summer of 2023 - the Blues spent just under £400m ($498m) on new players.
Man City find out West Ham's Lucas Paqueta asking price
Manchester City will have to pay Lucas Paqueta's £85 million ($105m) release clause if they want to sign the West Ham playmaker this summer.
City are eyeing a deal to sign Paqueta this summer as they plan a shake-up ahead of next season. Reports have suggested that the Brazil international has already agreed personal terms with the Premier League champions, but extricating him from the London Stadium may prove difficult, as Fabrizio Romano has revealed that he has an £85m release clause in his contract.
Man Utd could bring back Mason Greenwood next season
Mason Greenwood could play for Manchester United again once his Getafe loan spell ends, per a new report.
Greenwood has not played for United since January 2022, when he was arrested on suspicion of rape, assault, and coercive and controlling behaviour. Those charges were subsequently dropped, and he was loaned to Getafe in the summer, where he has since starred. In La Liga, he has scored six goals and registered five assists in 25 games, and ESPN now reports that a return is very much a possibility.
Inter Milan eyeing up Man Utd's Aaron Wan-Bissaka
Inter are eyeing a summer bid to sign Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Manchester United in case Denzel Dumfries leaves San Siro.
Inter have identified Wan-Bissaka as a potential replacement for Dumfries this summer, Gazzetta dello Sport reports. The Netherlands international has a contract until 2025 and the two parties are yet to agree on a new contract, raising the prospect of needing to sell this summer or risk losing him on a free. Inter value Dumfries at €30 million (£25m/$31m) and believe Wan-Bissaka could be signed for around €15m (£13m/$16m).
Chelsea warned against signing Gyokeres or Osimhen this summer
Chelsea have been warned not to sign either Victor Osimhen or Victor Gyokeres this summer by Emmanuel Petit, who also slammed owner Todd Boehly.
"I don’t think Chelsea need Gyokeres or Osimhen. With Chelsea, there are so many players who are not playing to their level and can do so much more. I think Nicolas Jackson is one of them.
"He’s got lots of potential and has shown it in glimpses but needs to do more. I think Caicedo needs to too and so does the Argentine midfielder, Enzo (Fernandez). There are many players who don’t play the way they should, there’s no confidence, they’re lost on the pitch - and it’s the same with Jackson. He’s struggling as the team is struggling.
"He’s not the type to dribble past four or five defenders and score, he’s not like that, but when Chelsea improve as a team, he will improve. That’s why I don't think Chelsea need to sign a striker - they need to stop spending so much."
Xavi re-asserts that he will leave Barcelona
Xavi Hernandez, the coach of FC Barcelona, has reaffirmed his decision to leave the club at the conclusion of the current season.
Despite speculation and inquiries regarding a potential reversal of his decision, Xavi reiterated his unwavering commitment to departing the club. He asserted that his decision was made after careful consideration and remains final.
In a recent statement, Xavi declared, "My decision to leave the club at the end of the season will NOT change. The decision I made is the right one, it has given a peaceful mind to the club, the players, even the press but also for me and for the environment… but I’m not changing my mind”.
Di Maria remain undecided on future
Angel Di Maria remains undecided about his future club as his contract with Benfica is set to expire this summer.
Benfica, eager to retain the World Cup winner, have proposed a new deal. However, the 36-year-old is contemplating a return to his childhood team, Rosario Central. But recent events have added complexity to Di Maria's decision-making process since he received a threat to his family home in the outskirts of Rosario.
In response to the situation, Di Maria stated, "I'm fine, I'm calm. A difficult moment has passed. The important thing is that my family is fine and nothing happened. That's the most important thing.
"I have the coach's trust, I always say that I want to play and he gives me a lot of confidence to improve. I am at peace with my season. The important thing is to be focused on the games and winning titles with this club. I don't know what will become of my future."
