David de Gea trolled by former Man Utd team-mate as he poses on beach holiday with WAG

He may no longer be a part of Manchester United's squad, but the dressing toom banter is alive and well for David De Gea.

The 33-year-old has spent this season in free agency after he was released from his commitments at Old Trafford last summer. That's given him plenty of free time to spend with his loved ones, such as his recent holiday to the Bahamas with his popstar wife, Edurne, and their daughter.

And even that was enough ammunition for his former comrades to take aim at the one-time Premier League champion. Specifically, it was Juan Mata's comment that caught the eye as he reacted to his Spanish compatriot revelling in his Caribbean surroundings.

And Mata, 35, couldn't wait to poke fun at his former comrade as he replied: "Did you get a little burnt?" It's easy to see how the former Chelsea and Valencia playmaker arrived at that conclusion given 'DDG' - who replied with a crab emoji - appeared to be sporting a pinkish hue in some of his snaps.

The stopper made sure to keep fit on vacation, however, and could be seen returning a few balls on the tennis court. De Gea has in the past uploaded training footage to Instagram following his release from United - but he's been unsuccessful in his attempts to find a new club to date.

Tennis superstar Daniil Medvedev also commented on the post and asked if De Gea was "better in tennis or rainbow," referring to video game series Rainbow Six. However, De Gea didn't rate his chances as he replied: "Both horrible."

The former Spain keeper and Mata - who is also a free agent after leaving Japanese club Vissel Kobe in January - spent eight years as team-mates at Old Trafford. That's in addition to their time together playing for Spain, having once been foes in La Liga while playing for Atletico Madrid and Valencia, respectively.

They may no longer share a dressing room, but it's clear the good vibes between the two are still alive and well. Even if the same can't be said for either of their on-field prospects at present.
