A strange-looking statue of Harry Kane is still waiting for a home after four years sat hidden away in storage.

The sculpture of the England and Tottenham hero was created back in 2019, but no-one can find the perfect spot for it in Chingford where Kane grew up. The statue shows him sitting on a bench, wearing his Three Lions shirt and with a football on his knee – and it cost a whopping £7,200 to make!

The Big Issue have now shared pictures of the statue from its creators, Sculpture Machine, after they sent them to Waltham Forest Council. Councillor Emma Best, who helped get the statue made, has been looking hard for a place to put it.

Emma told the BBC that she's spent "hours and hours" trying to find a spot for Kane's statue. And a spokesperson who for Kane said they hope to show the statue to everyone soon, reports the Mirror.

"Especially with Harry being England and Tottenham's all time top goal scorer. It is what he deserves," they said on behalf of the Bayern Munich striker. "The location of the statue is really important to us. And like Emma said, we are having some issues at the moment. But when we get it right, we will be happy to go."

Years have passed since the statue was made. During this time, Kane has set records as the top scorer for Tottenham and England, before moving from north London to German powerhouse Bayern Munich.

Kane himself has spoken about the idea of him having a statue at Spurs' stadium. Before he left last summer, the England skipper said: "A statue is a statue, it's not something that's going to make or break my career."

Most of the money used to pay for this statue is believed to have come from funds given to councillors, as per Waltham Forest council. Football fans, however, were a little critical of its peculiar look, especially the fact it was designed with Kane sat down.

Upon the release of the pictures online, one said on social media: "Should never see the light of day." Another added: "No resemblance at all, honestly." And a third put: "Waste of money... Doesn't look like Kane at all."
