A group of football fans have been labelled "geniuses" after bringing a bar optics with them for an away day.

Hundreds of Portsmouth supporters are making the 170-mile trip from the south coast to Peterborough for this afternoon's League One clash, and one particularly savvy bunch are doing it in style.

On Saturday morning, a photo emerged of a group of lads on the train up to north Cambridgeshire with a three-pronged bottle optics on their table - with tequila, spiced rum and amaretto on offer. The post, uploaded to X, was captioned "Peterborough away" and quickly did the rounds on social media, with fans hailing the "best away day ever".

"Great effort lads, Play up Pompey," wrote one respondent. Another said: "This is genius." A third added: "That is one of the best things I've seen," while a fourth joked: "All trains should have one of these."

A fifth admitted: "You know what fair enough. That is excellent," while another pointed out: "Be a right pain in the arse if they didn't land a table."

Adult content star and Chelsea super-fan Astrid Wett also chimed in. The X-rated social media influencer wrote: "Proper away day."

Portsmouth are flying high in League One and are currently five points clear at the top of the table. Peterborough are nine points behind in fourth, but due to the fact they have a game in hand on John Mousinho's men, a win today could be a serious momentum-swinger.

Pompey won their last encounter against The Posh in September, emerging 3-1 winners at Fratton Park despite having a men sent off for part of the game.
