Liverpool's chances of getting Xabi Alonso as their new manager might have just got a boost.
Bayern Munich, who were also eyeing him up, are now looking at someone else to replace Thomas Tuchel. Tuchel is leaving Bayern at the end of this season and Alonso, who used to play for both Bayern and Liverpool, was on their list.
But now, reports say that Bayern might go for Arne Slot from Feyenoord instead. Slot has been doing a great job at Feyenoord since he took over in 2021.
He even led them to win the league title last season and got them to the final of the Europa Conference League. Even though they lost to Roma in the final, Slot's work hasn't gone unnoticed.
Tottenham were interested in him last summer but he decided to stay with Feyenoord. But when he does decide to leave, he wants to go to a club outside of the Netherlands - and that could spell good news for Liverpool, reports the Mirror.

He stated last summer: "My next step will not be a club in Holland. If that is my next step, then I've failed completely. The normal next step will be to go abroad and I've always said the best league in the world is the Premier League."
When asked about possibly leaving Leverkusen earlier this year, Alonso responded: "I have nothing new to say about that. I wanted to say that in advance. Right now I'm the coach here, that's for sure. For the future I have nothing new to say, we'll see."
There might be a surprise meet up between Alonso's team and Liverpool in the Europa League. They both are top contenders in the competition.

In a recent tense match against Bayern Munich, Alonso showed his management chops when Leverkusen won convincingly, 3-0.
Commenting on their hunt for a manager, Bayern's chairman Herbert Hainer said: "We have replaced three coaches in a not-so-long time frame. We want to work with a coach for the long haul. Hence, he will take our time thinking about it and analysing -- and hopefully, hire the right one."
