Zinedine Zidane has hinted at returning to management amid links with the soon-to-be-vacant spot at Bayern Munich.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Zidane attended the screening of a documentary about former Italy and Juventus coach Marcello Lippi and discussed his own future. The Frenchman has been heavily linked with the Bavarian side after they announced that they would be parting ways with Thomas Tuchel.
WHAT ZIDANE SAID
During the premiere, Zidane praised Lippi via Gianluca di Marzio: "He was my coach, above all he made me come to Juventus. He's the first one who believed in me and made me play, because in the end it wasn't easy for him. I came from the experience in France, it was a bit difficult for me to prepare, but then in the end he made me play. So for me it was not only my coach, but what made me who I am.”
When asked if he would return to coaching, he said: "Why not, anything can happen. Now I'm doing other things, but we'll see - I'd certainly like to return to the bench."
THE BIGGER PICTURE
The 51-year-old has been away from the spotlight since he left Real Madrid in 2021 and his return has been a topic for the media since. The Frenchman won 11 trophies with the 13-time Champions League winners, having led them in two stints between 2016 and 2021.
WHAT NEXT FOR ZIDANE?
It remains to be seen if the Real Madrid legend decides to return to action at the end of the season. If he does return, it seems likely that Bayern Munich would be the favourites to snap up the Frenchman.
