EXCLUSIVE: Bundesliga starlets Florian Wirtz and Jamal Musiala were watched by Manchester City delegates in Bayern Munich's 3-0 defeat at Bayer Leverkusen, and Liverpool are keen too
Florian Wirtz has been impressive for Bayer Leverkusen
Manchester City scouted Bundesliga starlets Florian Wirtz and Jamal Musiala in last weekend’s big battle between Bayern Leverkusen and Bayern Munich.
The 20-year-olds are “players of interest” to City boss Pep Guardiola. That was the phrase used to the Daily Star Sunday to explain the presence of the Etihad delegation at the BayArena, where England captain Harry Kane’s Bayern suffered a 3-0 beating.
And it underlined that Liverpool won’t have the field to themselves as interest hots up in Germany’s attacking midfielders. City’s Premier League title rivals were also represented in Leverkusen and the Reds have been regarded as frontrunners for Wirtz and Musiala.
Both are valued at £80million. But Leverkusen’s Wirtz has been on City’s radar for some time – as first revealed by the Daily Star Sunday .
Last season’s Treble winners have also been alerted about the potential availability in the summer of Musiala, after talks stalled on a new contract. He has two years remaining on his current deal at Bayern.

Musiala was brought up in England. And through his British-Nigerian father, he represented the Three Lions at Under-21 level after starting his career in the academies at Southampton and Chelsea.
The Stuttgart-born Musiala switched his allegiance to the country of his birth. And he is now a regular in the German squad.
