Back on the grass! Liverpool talisman Mohamed Salah already up and running as he continues injury recovery following Egypt's Africa Cup of Nations exit

Mohamed Salah's injury recovery appears to be going well, with the Liverpool star stepping back onto the grass after leaving Egypt's camp at AFCON.

WHAT HAPPENED?
The Reds talisman faced heavy criticism from his home nation after leaving the Africa Cup of Nations to continue his rehabilitation in Merseyside. In his absence, Egypt only made it to the round of 16 before falling to a shock penalty shoot-out loss to DR Congo. With his nation eliminated and all four trophies up for grabs at club level, Salah will be raring to get back to the action - and hinted that his return may not be too far away.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
The update will be a huge boost for Jurgen Klopp, who still has an unprecedented quadruple in his sights in his last year in charge of the club. His Liverpool players, no doubt buoyed by the prospect of a 'last dance', have managed fine in Salah's absence. Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota in particular have stepped up, meaning the Egyptian King's return will add firepower to an already red-hot Liverpool frontline.

WHAT NEXT FOR SALAH?
Egypt's AFCON elimination means Salah doesn't have international commitments to worry about, but Klopp will be hoping his star forward is back as soon as possible. Liverpool have a shot at their first piece of silverware in the Carabao Cup final against Chelsea on February, and it is believed Salah will be back in time for that clash.
