Toon have already rejected a loan swoop for 31-year-old Wilson from Atletico Madrid, while AC Milan have also shown interest this month

Newcastle must sell before buying to remain within FFP rules, and   Wilson's contract is up next summer.

The nine-cap forward has notched 46 goals in 102 games for the Toon and is a proven Prem goalscorer — but he has missed around 40 per cent of matches through injury, with a calf problem  ruling him out since Boxing Day.

Toon winger Miguel Almiron is still wanted by Saudi side Al-Shabab, while Turkey's Besiktas are plotting a  move for skipper Jamaal Lascelles.

Newcastle are keen on Everton's Andre Onana and Nottingham Forest's Morgan Gibbs-White and would have the funds to bid if they sell.

According to the Standard, Arsenal are also monitoring the striker.

Wilson recently touched on rumours regarding his future on the latest episode of his Footballer's Football Podcast with Michail Antonio.

He explained: "It's January. The window is open and there is always speculation with players, not just regarding myself but with everyone else in the squad as well. I haven't got much more to say than that."

The 31-year-old has 18 months remaining on his contract after signing an extension in September.

Currently sidelined with a calf injury, Wilson has scored eight goals this term despite earlier hamstring woes.

Since joining Newcastle from Bournemouth in 2020, the England international has notched 46 strikes in 102 appearances.

A January move could help secure his place in Gareth Southgate's Euro 2024 squad.

Wilson has scored twice in his nine caps since making his debut in 2018.
