'It's done' - Bayern Munich provide firm update on pursuit of Newcastle's Kieran Trippier

Bayern Munich have dropped their pursuit of Newcastle full-back Kieran Trippier, sporting director Christoph Freund has confirmed.
WHAT HAPPENED?
There was talk of a possible reunion for former Tottenham team-mates Harry Kane and Trippier when it emerged that the German side had tabled two bids to sign the right-back in the January transfer window, having seen their first rejected. Freund, though, says that the negotiations are over and Bayern will not be signing the England international.
WHAT BAYERN SAID
Freund said to Sky Sport in Germany: "That's settled, yes. We only do something that we are 100% convinced of, that's what we've always said. That has to be right in all parameters for the player, for us and for the transferring club and that wasn't the case. With Trippier it's done."
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Bayern appear to have set their sights on Paris Saint-Germain right-back Nordi Mukiele to strengthen Thomas Tuchel's team on that side instead. Asked on Wednesday if there is a chance the Bundesliga champions could sign the France international, Freund said: "Yes."
WHAT NEXT FOR BAYERN?
While there will be no reunion for Kane and Trippier, the German side fielded two former Tottenham stars in their Bundesliga match against Union Berlin on Wednesday, bringing on defender Eric Dier for his debut alongside the striker.
