Djurgarden's Lucas Bergvall is wanted by Man Utd as well as Europe's top clubs

He came through the ranks at the country's famed IF Brommapojkarna academy system - which boasts Tottenham's Dejan Kulusevski, ex-Juventus ace Albin Ekdal, and former Coventry striker Viktor Gyokeres as graduates.

Despite his age, Bergvall made 25 appearances last term and also featured in Djurgarden's Europa Conference League qualifying defeat to FC Luzern in July.

His performances have caught the eye of several big clubs across the continent.

Newcastle United have recently been linked with a move to try and bring him to the Premier League.

Meanwhile, German giants Eintracht Frankfurt and Borussia Dortmund are also keen as well as Barcelona.

Djurgarden are believed to be demanding a fee of between £6.85m to £8.57m for the Swedish U21 ace.

And their sporting director Bo Andersson recently hinted that a switch to Spain and the Nou Camp was on the cards.

He said: "Yes, I can confirm that we have been in contact and in dialogue with Barcelona.

"But it's not a negotiation yet. There was some contact with Barcelona last week but this week we haven't spoken to them."

However German outlet Fussball News are claiming that United are now firmly in the hunt to try and snap up the teenage star.

They report that the Red Devils are "very hot" in the transfer race and have "continued to put out feelers" for the player, who turns 18 on February 2.

And they could also hold a big advantage over their rivals.

Bergvall already knows United well having enjoyed two trials there aged 14, and he allegedly remains "very fond" of the Old Trafford outfit.

Due to the current takeover process with Sir Jim Ratcliffe, United are believed to be only open to loan deals this month and will only buy players permanently in the summer.

But that suits "fan of the club" Bergvall as he is not in a rush to leave and a "quick decision is not expected at the moment" on his future as he is "willing to wait a while".
