Jadon Sancho's social media activity appears to have confirmed his imminent return to Borussia Dortmund on loan from Manchester United.
WHAT HAPPENED?
It was reported this week that Sancho has agreed to a temporary return to the German side in a loan deal worth €4 million (£3.5m/$4m), which does not include an option to buy him. Sancho hinted that an agreement is all wrapped up as he 'liked' transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano's post on X (formerly Twitter) about the imminent completion of the move.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
The 23-year-old will hope to get his career back on track at Dortmund following a difficult period at United. He has featured on just three occasions this season under Erik ten Hag and was banished from the senior team in August after hitting back at the manager following criticism over his conduct in training. Sancho claimed he has been used as a "scapegoat" at Old Trafford, and it was later reported that the relationship between player and coach is "beyond repair".
DID YOU KNOW?
Sancho spent four years at Dortmund after joining from Manchester City's youth academy in 2017. He quickly rose to stardom in Germany, scoring 38 goals and registering 45 assists in 104 Bundesliga matches. He was then snapped up by United in 2021.
WHAT NEXT FOR SANCHO?
The England winger will join up with his new Dortmund team-mates after completing the loan move to the German club. It is not yet known if the deal will be finalised in time for him to play in their Bundesliga match against Darmstadt on Saturday.
