Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino refused to deny Conor Gallagher could be sold this month.
Gallagher is a January target for Tottenham.
Ahead of their FA Cup tie with Preston, Pochettino said: "We need to talk about many things but it is clear Conor has still a one-year-and-a-half-contract with us. Like all of the players at different clubs when you arrive at this point it is about to talk, to take a decision for the future. Of course, all of this is going to be between the club and the player. Nothing to announce, nothing to say. The club is happy with him, he is happy here and at the moment nothing to say."
He also said: "Yes, we don't really need to sit together like an official meeting, we are always every single day talking and assessing the squad. Now the market is open and I think some players we own, like Andrey Santos that has come back from his loan at Nottingham Forest, we need to take some decisions.
"I think I am happy with the squad I have, we are focused on trying to recover the players as soon as possible. We are assessing things, we see the squad and if we see some possibility maybe we can do or not but at the moment we didn't take any decisions."
Asked to guarantee Gallagher will stay, he added: "Look, I cannot guarantee I will be here tomorrow. In football, with us, it's different part of things can happen. Decisions between the club and player. Only the player can guarantee or the club. The player more than the club as the player have one year and a half more. He can say 'yes, I will be here because my contract allows me to be here'. It's about making the best decision for the club, the player and the team."
